It's equally as easy to restore your lost data from your Mac hard drive, USB flash drive, memory card and other devices. Please note however that continued operation on your drive (including searching for data recovery software and installing software) in the location where you lost your files will cause permanent data loss. So, if available, please use another Mac computer to download iSkysoft Data Recovery for Mac, install it to a USB flash drive and then perform data recovery with the software installed on your USB flash drive.
"Lost Data Recovery" mode allows you to recover lost data due to accidentally deleted by Command+Delete, emptied Trash, corrupted files and more. Click Lost Data Recovery mode and the window will appear like the one below:
Select the drive where you've lost your files, and then click the "Scan" button on top to start the scan. If your drive is not in the list, click the "Refresh Drives" button at bottom and it should appear.
When scanning is complete, the window will open as below. Here you can preview files before recovery. To recover files, check the files in the list and click the "Recover" button on top to save files to the selected path (not to the drive where you lost files, external drives are highly recommended.) .
Enter the "Raw Recovery" mode to perform a deeper scan and recover files by file signature. In this recovery mode, you can recover up to 50 types of files like PNG, JPG, MOV, M4V, M4A, MP3, PAGES, ZIP, EML and so on. The only disadvantage is that the original file names and file folders are unavailable.
Choose a drive or the whole disk and click the "Scan" button on top to start scanning. If you have lost or formatted a partition, select the whole disk. Also try "Refresh Drives" if your partition is not in the list. When scanning is complete, check the files you want and click the Recover button to save them to another drive or external storage media.
Generally, Raw Data Recovery might take a longer time than Lost Data Recovery. To help you find the lost files faster, there are two options:
1. Only Scan Deleted Files
You can choose to only scan deleted files on the partition using the option at bottom.
2. Use Filter Options
By clicking Filter Options, you can choose a specific file type to scan, like Images, Videos, Documents, Audio, Archive and so on. Under each file type, you can also choose specific file formats by clicking the right arrow button. In the Select Disk Region tab, you can even specify the Starting Sector and Ending Sector to save scanning time.
In the main interface, click "Partition Recovery", choose your desired disk, and click Search Partition on top to start scanning lost, formatted, resized and corrupted partitions.
By default, the application will use "Quick Search" to find your partitions. This method will find your recently lost partitions in seconds. To find all lost partitions, switch to Advanced Search and scan again.
When lost partitions appear in the list, select a partition you want to recover files from, and then click the Scan button on top to scan lost files to recover. When finished, check the files you want to recover and click the Recover button to perform data recovery.
Sometimes, scanning might take hours to finish. If for some reason you have to close your computer, you can save the scan results and resume recovery when you come back. To do so, click the Pause or Stop button first and then click the Save Scan Info button on top to save a *.res file to your computer.
To resume a previous recovery, choose "Resume Recovery" in the primary window and import the scanning results from a *.res file. Then you're able to preview and perform data recovery from the previously saved scanning results.
Note that Resume Recovery doesn't mean you can start resume scanning from where you left last time. If your lost files are not found, you have to scan again.
